Sorry to tell you but I am probably correct... I think the others will agree.

I dont see anywhere on here that suggests its to be used a cache drive instead a system SSD: http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-…DX-120G-G25/dp/B006EKJCWM

I am just pointing my general experience. If I were you I wouldn't bother with soft tests or questions here. I would be pulling hardware components one by one until the machine gets stable.

Ah, I was thinking it was like the ReadyCache. It seems to not be. How old is it?

its only maybe a year old at this point.there's currently nothing plugged into it that is not essential (I can pull a stick of RAM, but memtest never gave me any errors so that seems to be ok)
I think what I'll do first is update the bios, try reinstalling OMV onto the other SSD and see what happens. Will update after all this is done

It passed memtest so it is not the ram. It is probably one of these:
psu
ssd
biosPS- not fun going item by item but you gotta do what you gotta do...

if that were the case, wouldn't this problem have come up before when I used the same machine as my daily driver? I've never had issues with random restarts prior to this. Or is OMV just more sensitive to these types of things than Windows?
Honestly, I don't really know.. it could be something that just happened. Did you do any hardware work when you installed OMV? (Plugging/Unplugging drives, installing drives, etc..?). I would assume you did at least install a few drives. Could be something that has been in the works for a while, and it just so happened to start being an issue when you installed OMV (this seems a very remote possibility, but can't be excluded).
It seems you've ruled out RAM... so I still think PSU.. but that's just me.

so I installed OMV to my other SSD, as well as tried to update the BIOS. The machine still restarts itself, but much less frequently (it was up for about 14 hours before it restarted)
It seems to only restart when I go into the webui and make changes of some sort - is this indicative of anything?

Can you watch the monitor for the error display while you apply the changes?

I had my ReadyCache only for about 3 months. Then it quitt its work as system drive.
