Hi,
after omv-update the web GUI is not working anymore. My OMV version is 1.17.
The omv-firstaid command does not work either...command not found.
The system seems to run fine in the background. I still have access to all my shares.
What can I do to fix this? Alternatively, can I backup my settings via the command line and have a fresh reinstallation?

If the command is not found then some is absolutely wrong on your system Ensure the openmediavault package is installed:
# dpkg -l | grep openmediavault
If it is not listed or marked to be removed, then reinstall it:
# apt-get install --reinstall openmediavault

It was a clean installation. I think I started with 1.13 and now somehow this happened.
i think your sytem is on Jessie and not Wheezy. The error message that php5-pam and some other packages can't be installed are an indication for that.

I don't know how I ended up with this situation...
However, is there any way I can fix this without having to set up everything from scratch?

hostnamectl shows Jessie.

I'll second the question from CHANCE, can this be 'fixed' w/o having to start over? (Can debian be downgraded???)
This is what happened to you guys: OMV 1.18 CRON-APT Error: The value 'stable' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such a release is not available in the sources
Reverting to Wheezy? In Theory: Yes. But its not easy, needs enormous amounts of manual user interaction via CLI. I do not suggest that. A reinstall is advised.
