You need to set your dns servers.

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.4 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

  • Thanks ryecoarron for the help.
I changed my network to static and entered my router ip as the dns, still get the same error.
i rebooted the computer to make sure the settings changed.
not sure what to do next?
how did you know it was a dns issue from my error message?

The domain names aren't resolving. Try putting 8.8.8.8 in for dns.

  • Hi
have you an accessdevice /router which has access rules ?

e.g. is the IP number / MAC you are using blocked to reach the internet.

Try to use the router as DNS and see if it will resolve the name .
As neither nslookup nor dig is by default installed use ping http://www.google.com.
If you see something similar to this

    Code
    root@nas04:~# ping www.google.com
    PING www.google.com (216.58.209.228) 56(84) bytes of data.
    .....

you shouldnt have an dns problem. If ping doesnt go through it could be a firewall issue.

    Yours

  • no it's not blocked, owncloud and deluge are both working outside my network.
I just ssh into the machine and tried ping it's working fine no packet lose. i pinged router ip 192.168.1.1, i pinged 208.67.222.222.
i also pinged the omv box from a computer in my network and it was good no packet loss.
Not sure what changed as i have changed nothing, updated omv about 2 weeks ago.

The only problem your system is having is resolving domain names. Incoming connections and outgoing connections using IP addresses should still work. What is the output of:

    cat /etc/network/interfaces
    cat /etc/resolv.conf

It is still set to manual in your interfaces file. Try:

    omv-mkconf interfaces

Then post the interfaces file again:

updated to omv 1.9, rebooted and same error comes back when i check for updates.

Then post the interfaces file again:

I looked at your output above more carefully and I guess just the one repo is down (ftp3.nrc.ca). You could try changing it or just wait a day or two.

  • Followed this guide, and still get the same error when i check for updates.

When i followed that guide and did shift insert, it added the new lines to the config. nothing changed i still got the error.
so i then used United States as my country and removed all other sources in my config, is this a bad thing?

also i ran cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.bak to back up my config, how do i restore if i have messed it up?
    Thanks
