It doesn't mention if it uses static wear leveling or not but it should work. If not, you could always add an ssd with a usb to sata converter or a pci-e sata card to give you more sata ports.

SLC NAND Speicher haben auch um die 100.000 Lese/Schreibzyklen. Sollte also durchaus eine weile halten. In meinem Microserver klebt die Festplatte mit Tape auf dem DVD Laufwerk, welches ich abgesteckt habe. Wenn du ein dünnes USBtoSata Gehäuse hast, passt das auch noch da drauf. Im prinzip wäre es auch möglich eine MSATA über PCIe anzubinden. Platz ist in dem Ding nämlich noch eine Menge!

How fast would the system be with OMV running from a USB 2.0 drive (SSD or USB stick)? The N54L has only USB 2.0 ports. I can see things like Plex or backups running really slow....?
The speed of the OS drive doesn't make much of a difference because you are writing to the data drives. I have used old, slow laptop drives and can't detect a difference when using OMV.

Nein, ich rate dir ganz und gar nicht davon ab. Ich wollte dir nur deutlich machen, dass im Gehäuse noch sehr viel Platz wäre.
Egal für welche Lösung du dich entscheidest, ein backup nach dem Einrichten deines Systems ist quasi Pflicht.

Ich werde heute den besagten 8 GB MX-ES Stick in mein N40L einpflanzen und dann mal Bericht erstatten.
Das Dingen hat übrigens 5 Jahre Herstellergarantie, also soll es wohl tauglich sein.
