communication failure when checking for file systems w/ USB HDD attached

Running omv on a Raspberry PI 2 with a Samsung 2TB USB drive attached to it. When I search the files systems on the web UI I get a "communication failure" error. No matter how long I leave this page the file systems never loads and I get the "communication failure" over and over. If I detach the USB hard drive the file system loads right away. To be on the safe after this happening I did reformat this drive when attached to another Linux computer with ext4. This did not make a difference still was getting the "communication failure" error without the file system loading. Anyone seen this or know how to get the USB drive to load up in the files system page in the web UI?
