Hi,
I whish to copy 4 NTFS internal drives to the RAID. I have still plenty of bays on my case and the question is the following: how could I copy them to the RAID volume without using external USB enclosures or network connection ?
Please note, I am not skilled to linux shell. A GUI enviromnent would be nice !

This really shouldn't be a problem... You said you have plenty of bays in your case (I'm assuming you also have at least 1 free SATA port)...
Shutdown the server
plug in NTFS drive
Boot server
Mount NTFS drive (under filesystems)Now that the drive is mounted, all you have to do is move the data. Few ways to do this, a lot of which depends on how the folders are set up on the NTFS drive. Rsync would make quick work of copying the data, but to make it practical, we'd need to see how the filestructure is set up on the NTFS driv.e

One main dir on root and many subfolders with half million files.
Permission on main windows user. -
OK... have you created a filesystem on the RAID?
-
Yes, it is ext4.

Oh,I forgot a preference: I whish to retain data and file permissione flags from NTFS and anything else.

Easiest way to do this, will probably be a simple rsync job. Not sure permissions on a NTFS partition will transfer to an ext4 partition will happen though
